The Together California
Difference
Transforming Children’s Lives
Together California will make a positive difference in the lives of
foster children in these new ways:
Traditional Foster Care
Stability
Foster parents can request a child leaves their home within 14 days. This creates a sense of uncertainty.
Provides a reassuring level of certainty and security that a home is always available.
Foster Parents
Often, foster parents can feel alone or isolated, not having easy access to support or training.
Together California parents get ongoing support and training where they live.
Siblings
Three out of four siblings are separated in care, increasing instability and adding trauma.
Each Together California home is built to accommodate up to six siblings. Larger sibling groups can still be accommodated in the village.
Community
Foster parents and children are required to seek out community resources that may not always be accessible.
The Together California model provides built-in access to on-site supportive services, recreational facilities, and peer support.
Support
A traditional case worker/therapist often times may not be present when a crisis arises.
The case worker/therapist is on site. They have access to the children on a daily basis.
Keeping Families
Together
“Together California prioritizes the importance of sibling bonds and seeks to minimize the trauma associated often with separation when children enter the foster care system.
Our model creates a shift toward a more family-centered and inclusive approach to foster care. Our goal is to empower the futures of the children and families. We create a supportive and collaborative environment where individuals and families can thrive in our village. We also actively collaborate with the community to create meaningful and lasting transformation that helps create a brighter future for children, their families, and our community.”
